These notices apply to the coming-soon website at waterfolk.app, including its English version. They do not describe processing by an already launched video platform. Please direct privacy enquiries to the email address above.
2. Website delivery and hosting
To deliver the website, the server technically processes your IP address, connection details, requested address, request time and HTTP headers supplied by your browser, such as browser information and, where supplied, the referring page. The website cannot be delivered without this transmission. Processing serves website delivery and secure operation under GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Our legitimate interest is providing a secure, functioning preview website.
The hosting provider is Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The provider processes technically necessary data as part of hosting. See Hetzner’s privacy information.
Persistent Nginx access and error logs are disabled for this website, so we do not create a visitor request history through those logs. This is distinct from technical processing by the hosting provider and protection of its infrastructure.
3. Cookies, appearance and language
This preview sets no cookies of its own and uses neither Local Storage nor Session Storage. Appearance choices stay in the memory of the open page. After a successful submission, the current browser history entry keeps the time when the form can be shown again. An expired timestamp is removed while the page is open or when it is reloaded. The website takes account of browser preferences for appearance and reduced motion. Language follows the requested address: German at / and English at /en/.
Your browser may store downloaded files in its normal HTTP cache to display them and serve repeated requests. No recognition or profiling identifiers are stored.
4. Video, fonts and external links
Video, images and fonts are loaded from our own web server. The muted surf clip is not an embedded video service. Embedded content therefore does not connect to Wikimedia, social networks or external font services when the page loads. If you open an external link, its provider processes the transmitted connection data according to its own privacy information.
5. Enquiries by form or email
If you use the contact form, we process your email address and message to handle and answer your enquiry. Both fields are required so that we can address your enquiry and reply. If you email us directly, we also process any information you voluntarily include. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
The web server hands the form message to our email service for delivery to the mailbox listed in the legal notice. If you email us directly, your email service is also involved. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is handling and responding to enquiries. For enquiries necessary to perform a contract or to take steps at your request before entering into one, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
The contact form does not store the message in a separate database. Correspondence is deleted once the matter is resolved and no further handling, statutory retention obligation or necessary retention for legal claims requires it. Retention depends on the content and progress of the particular matter.
To prevent spam, the server uses a secret key to derive an identifier from the IP address and stores it with a request counter and expiry time. The identifier is active for ten minutes to limit the number of requests. There is also a 60-second wait between delivery attempts. Expired entries are removed the next time the counter is updated. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is protecting the form and mailbox from abuse.
6. No analytics or accounts
This coming-soon website uses no analytics, advertising or tracking services. It offers no registration, uploads, newsletter subscription or payments. No automated decision-making, including profiling under GDPR Article 22, takes place.
7. Your rights and objections
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access (GDPR Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) and data portability (Article 20). Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it for the future.
You may object under GDPR Article 21, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Article 6(1)(f). Contact aeichler@waterfolk.app to exercise your rights.
Under GDPR Article 77 you may complain to a supervisory authority, particularly where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. For the operator in Berlin: Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin; submit a complaint.
